Using purpose-built accelerators and the AWS Migration Acceleration Program, it delivers a fast, low-risk path to ArcGIS Enterprise on Amazon Web Services—ensuring every deployment is secure, scalable, and compliant.

Who is the VividCloud ArcGIS Migration service designed for?

The VividCloud ArcGIS Migration service is for organizations that use ArcGIS Enterprise and want to modernize by moving to Amazon Web Services. It’s ideal for public and private sector teams looking to boost performance, security, and scalability while simplifying infrastructure and reducing costs.

What are the migration options are available?
  • Lift-and-Shift: Move existing VMs with minimal changes.
  • Replatform: Modernize with AWS services like EC2, RDS and S3
  • Hybrid: Maintain some components on-prem while moving others to AWS
Is “Lift-and-Shift” a good migration option?

Lift-and-shift can be a good option for migrating ArcGIS Enterprise when speed and minimal disruption matter most. But on its own, it may not deliver the best long-term performance or cost savings. A hybrid approach often works best—migrate first, then improve the architecture to get the full benefits of the cloud.

How is ArcGIS Server deployed on AWS?

ArcGIS Server can be deployed in a highly available, elastic configuration across multiple availability zones. VividCloud uses automated templates to ensure consistent, secure, and scalable deployments

What about Databases and Storage?

We support managed database services like Amazon RDS and Amazon Aurora as well as object storage through Amazon S3. Your geospatial data can be migrated, optimized, and secured for both performance and durability.

How does AWS ensure security and Reliability?

We design and implement migrations using the AWS Well-Architected Framework, leveraging least-privilege IAM roles, multi-AZ deployments, centralized governance, encryption, continuous compliance monitoring, and automated backups to maximize uptime, protection, and compliance.

Will I still manage users and content?

Yes. You retain full control over users, roles, groups, and GIS content through your ArcGIS Enterprise portal and administration tools, with the option to integrate corporate identity providers.

How do I move data to AWS?

We provide secure data migration options including, AWS DataSync for files, DMS for databases, and Change Data Capture for near real-time sync.

Can I test before going live?

Yes. We provide a fully functional test environment that mirrors production, allowing validation of system performance, data integrity, security, and user access before launch.

Will performance improve?

In most cases, yes—With cloud-native scaling, improved network performance, and optimized infrastructure, you can expect increased responsiveness, higher availability, and reduced maintenance overhead.

Can I scale easily?

Absolutely. The cloud environment is designed to scale horizontally and vertically, supporting peak loads, seasonal demand, and evolving business needs without major infrastructure changes.

Can ArcGIS integrate with other enterprise systems after migration?

Yes. Cloud-hosted ArcGIS can integrate with ERP, CRM, asset management, and business intelligence platforms through secure APIs and enterprise connectors, extending the value of your geospatial investment.

Will migration impact operations?

We use phased migration strategies and change control processes to minimize disruption. Critical services remain available during cutover, and rollback plans are built into every migration.

Who handles updates and patches?

You can manage them directly—or leverage VividCloud, Esri, or AWS managed services. Our templates also automate future updates.

Does VividCloud offer post-migration support?

Yes—VividCloud can provide ongoing support, monitoring, optimization, and cost management to keep your ArcGIS Enterprise environment running at its best.
